Here are some notes and a diagram to help guide you through the hand reflexology for self care sequence you learnt on the workshop. Remember to work gently and to pull back from any discomfort. If you can set yourself up in a calm space, use a cream or balm on the hands, and a pillow to rest your non-working hand on. Of course, this won’t always be possible and some of this sequence is also designed to be used on the hoof/in meetings/wherever you are.

To Begin - Both Hands
Solar Plexus – Place your thumb on the dip in the centre of your palm. As you breathe in apply gentle pressure to this area, as you breathe out release. Do this x3
Palm Stroke – Using the palm of one hand sweep from the finger tips to the elbow up and down the arm
Palm massage – Using the thumb and pad of the thumb of one hand massage the palm of the other
Zone walk/rub – Using the thumb or pad of the first two fingers of one hand walk or rub from the wrist up the palm to the tip of each finger on the opposite hand (start with the thumb)
Reflex Points – Do all points on the right hand then on the left hand
Head reflex point – Use your thumb or fingers to walk or rub up from the crease midway on the opposite thumb to the tip.
Neck reflex point – With the thumb of the opposite hand walk/rub along the crease midway down the thumb.
Shoulder reflex point – Using the thumb of the opposite hand walk/rub up the pad underneath the little finger.
Diaphragm reflex area– With the thumb of the opposite hand and starting at the crease under the little finger pad, walk/sweep straight across the hand. It can be nice to start with an inhale and exhale as you sweep across.
Lung reflex area – With the thumb of the opposite hand walk/rub the lung reflex area (up from the crease of the diaphragm line).
Adrenal reflex point – Gently squeeze at the base of the “V” between the first finger and thumb. Use the thumb and first finger of the opposite hand and gently squeeze and release.
Hip reflex point – 1. With the thumb of the opposite hand rub into the dip just below the wrist bone (lateral/side of the hand, little finger side). 2. With the first finger of the opposite hand find the dip below the wrist bone (dorsal/top of the hand, little finger side). Use small circular movements on the point.
Spine reflex area – Using the thumb of the opposite hand walk/rub along from base of wrist (thumb side) along the bony ridge to the thumb nail.
To End - Both Hands
Palm massage – Using the thumb and pad of the thumb of one hand massage the palm of the other.
Finger massage – massage each finger individually & rotate fingers.
